Our preparation for this detailed and exacting work was extensive. It included
post-graduate study in fine arts, conservation, and restoration in both
the Institute Royale du Patrimonie Artistique and the Institute de Restoration,
Abbaye de la Cambre in Brussels, Belgium. This study was enhanced by
apprenticeship in the studios of A-M. De Pauw and K. Hisey (Private
Restorers), E. Rabé (Master Gilder), and K. Michel (Sculptor/Artist). Our preparation also
includes studies in decorative arts, antiques, and architecture.
Following our formal studies and apprenticeships, we owned and operated Art Services Company in Brussels, Belgium for seven years. Upon relocating to North Palm Beach, Florida, we continued our dedication to the conservation of
fine art as Muir Fine Arts, Inc., which we operated succesfully there for 10 years.
Overall, we have twenty years experience in the profession of conservation and restoration of fine art. We now manage and operate Muir Fine Arts, Inc. at our studio in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, where we have lived since 1999.
